Sweet nothings :)

Today I decided I would do nothing. Oh the joy of having a day with nothing to do! Unfortunately...I don't do nothing well, so I made banana bread, cleaned the kitchen and then worked on wedding stuff until Shawn got home. I got a lot accomplished though, so that makes me happy. Happier than if I had really spent a day doing absolutely nothing! Now Shawn is home from work and we can do nothing together...bring on The Return of the King! We watched the first two the last couple of days. Shawn had never seen the extended editions!

Honeymoon plans :)

Our passports finally arrived yesterday! I am so very excited! I have officially booked our flights to Ireland for the honeymoon and now that we have our passports the honeymoon planning can launch into full swing! I have the basic trip planned out already (I mean, come on! It is me after all!) but I haven't actually booked anything except the flights. I spent the last 2 months checking the flights daily to see when there was a deal. I managed to get a really great deal on our return flight one day about 2 months ago! I was at work and I check in the middle of the night and they were more than a $100 cheaper each! I bought them instantly then had to wait til this week to find a flight to get out there that was on sale. Anyway, both flights purchased now, although I discovered the stupid foreign fee that gets added to all transactions that are made though VISA/MASTERCARD that require a conversion of foreign money get a 3% fee added. So shitty! Seriously! Oh well...I guess that's just how it goes! I'm getting so excited for the honeymoon now!!

What's been going on...

After my busy stretch of work last week, I was looking forward to some time off. I decided it would be fun to make a trip back to Muncie to visit with my family, then Shawn would be able to come down for the weekend too. It was such a great time! I got to spend some time with Mom, Eric, and Sara on Thursday & Friday. Eric had his last middle school track meet, so that was fun to get to watch him do the long jump. Also, Dave came to the track meet as well, so we got to chat for awhile. Sara and I did some shopping together on Friday and we got pedicures...awesome! Mom and I got a few more things for the wedding, plus I got to try on my dress with Mom's help. LOVE IT! I am even more excited for the wedding now! Theresa also made the trip to Muncie for the weekend. Saturday we went to Puerta for lunch (fantastic!) and then we went to see Star Trek again. Shawn and I had already seen it, but Dave, Eric, Theresa and Bryce had not. Of course, everyone loved it. Great great movie.

Saturday Shawn and I also decided to the the tattoo's we've been wanting. We have been putting it off since we haven't really been sure where to go in Chicago. We know places in Muncie and felt a bit more comfortable there, so we did it. Shawn got his Saturday morning at Dragon Slayer and I got mine after the movie Saturday at Lucky Rabbit. Shawn has known what he wanted for awhile so he got the symbol of the Jedi Order on his right arm. It turned out really good!

For my tattoo, I already had a small tattoo that I loved but I wanted something bigger in the same spot. Sara designed a basic addition to my original tattoo and then the guy at Lucky Rabbit tweaked it to make it really work as a tattoo. It turned out great I think!

Saturday also was Bryce's going away party. Bryce is one of Shawn's best friends and he got an internship in L.A. so he'll be moving out there next weekend. A bunch of us got together in Muncie to say farewell for now! He'll be back for our wedding of course though, since he's a groomsman! Drew, his roommate, made a TON of jello shots and they were delicious! We played some cards and the guys smoked some cigars. Overall a great time!

Shawn, Me and Bryce! We'll be missing him!

Pretty sure Theresa and I are dancing...we look so stupid! Theresa thinks it looks like I just punched her in the face. Maybe? I don't know why I would want to punch my bestest though! haha

Wedding Dress!

My wedding dress finally arrived the other day! I was so excited, but then I realized that I couldn't even try it one to make sure it fits since I live with Shawn and he can't see it! I was planning a trip home to visit Mom this week, so when I got up this afternoon to head to the bus to Indianapolis, I made sure to bring my dress too! Mom and Eric came to Indy to pick me up and Mom and I had tons of wedding things to discuss on the ride home. Finally after we got to Muncie I got to try on my dress. I LOVE IT! It will need some alterations, but overall it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I am SO looking forward to the wedding. Yay!
Now I will get to spend the next couple of days with Mom, plus Eric is supposed to have a track meet tomorrow. Friday night Shawn will be driving down since he has the weekend off of work! Theresa is coming to visit as well, and Saturday our friend Bryce is having a going away party because he is moving to L.A. Earlier Saturday we're going to get Sara too and go to a movie with Dave. Gonna see Star Trek again (well Eric, Sara, & Dave haven't seen it yet!) Good fun coming this weekend!

Star Trek

I never thought I would say this (and I really hope Ian doesn't find out) but I think I may become a fan of Star Trek. Shawn and I just got home from seeing the new Star Trek movie and it was really awesome! I've never seen any of the Star Trek movies and I've only seen the tv shows a few time (and an all day Star Trek Voyager marathon one Thanksgiving with Ian), so I have limited knowledge of Star Trek. This movie was great though! Best movie I've seen since last summer. The story was great, the action was amazing, and the casting was really good too! I was impressed and I want to go see it again! I was sad when it was over. I even got to cry, and everyone knows how much I like to cry at movies! Anyway, if you weren't planning to go see Star Trek - change your mind! If you are going to go see it, go soon! It is worth movie theater money.

Lazy Day

Shawn and I rarely have the same days off, so I was excited for today because we were going to be able to spend it together. I worked last night, so I did have to sleep some this morning, but it was a beautiful day so Shawn was able to ride his bike and do some other things outdoors while I was sleeping. After I woke up we decided to go to an outdoor mall to do some window shopping. I knew there was a Crate and Barrel at that mall, so I thought we could update our registry because Shawn hadn't really had any input on that one as yet. I had been doing it myself online up til now, so it was fun to walk through the store together and pick things out. When we were finished they gave us a free gift for registering there, plus with their registry we will be able to buy anything that isn't purchased for us after the wedding for 10 or 15% off! Sweet. Here is a picture of our free gift.
I already transferred the candy from our current candy dish and made this beautiful heart-shaped glass bowl our new coffee table candy dish. So cute! Unfortunately it started pouring while we were in Crate and Barrel, which wasn't great since we were at an outdoor mall! We managed to get around without getting soaked though.
Then we headed to our first dance class! It was so much fun! We learned the basic steps for the rumba and the fox trot. We decided on the wedding package that includes 6 private lessons and they will choreograph our first dance. The instructor said we did very well for our first time, so we have confidence it is going to turn out well! We told her the song we chose for our first dance and then we have our first official lesson in 2 weeks! We both are really excited about it! We're going to be practicing a lot at home, which should be super fun!

Yay!

I am happy because Shawn and I have two days off together this week! They aren't two days in a row, but two days this week and that makes me happy! Typically Shawn works on my days off so I am very happy this week! Just thought I would share my happiness...plus we start our dance classes this week. That should also be fun!

Awesome Weekend!

Theresa came for a visit this weekend :) We discovered just a few days before she came that Kate Voegele was going to be performing in Chicago, so quickly I bought us some tickets. Kate Voegele is a fairly new singer that got her start on the tv show One Tree Hill. Theresa and Shawn like that show and they have introduced me to lots of music from up and coming stars, like Kate Voegele. She is a great musician and I would recommend listening sometime. You'll love her. The concert turned out to be at a really neat concert venue called Park West near Lincoln Park and she was great. She had an opening act named Angel Taylor who was also very good. Anyway, we got our weekend started out great!

Saturday we were invited to a Derby Party. My Dad's second wife, Sue, has lived in Kentucky for several years now and Mimi and I don't get to see her hardly ever but she was in Orland Park visiting her sister (Aunt Sally & Uncle Tom) and she invited me for the Derby. We used to spend a TON of time them when were kids so it was a blast to see them! I had never been to a Derby Party and I'd never watched the Kentucky Derby either, and both were great fun. We ended up winning a bit of money too, so that's always great! We stopped on the way over to get some hats, and they were lots of fun. I discovered the my cousins Lisa & Laura are both pregnant and they'll are due within a week of each other. I'm so excited for them both of them! We got to see Kristin too and of course any day spend around Sue is always a blast, so I'm so glad that she was up from Kentucky for a visit! There were also some very great snacks too. Theresa won the drawing for the horse that would lose the race and it happened to be named Private Part (which we all thought was pretty darn funny!).
Kristin, Lisa & Laura

Shawn with his crazy leopard print cowboy hat (sexy, huh?) and T and I with funny hats too!
We decided to stop by to get our wedding bands on Saturday. Shawn is not really very excited about jewelry so it was a challenge to get him to find something he actually "liked." I think he found it though! He looked at quite a few and we narrowed it down to a couple then the chose one. I really like it and I think he'll be happy with it forever too! We also picked out my ring, which is the one that completed the engagement ring Shawn already chose. My rings look so pretty together, but Shawn told me that I'm not allowed to wear it yet :( Not even around the house. I love it! I'm even more excited about the wedding now, and so is Shawn!
