Birthday Shenanigans, Part I

Today we had a little family shin-dig for Eric's Birthday.  Mom got Cuban food from a place she just discovered in Austin...YUMMY...and Eric got a cookie-cake! 

P.S.  Nessa is wearing a "bowl-er" hat!  Haha!

The big adventure of the day was installing the storm door we ordered for the porch.  Marcie loves to be out there but it is WAY too hot now for us to leave the door open, so we play the game of in and out and in and out...all day!  Not fun.  So we bought a storm door with a built in doggie-door for Marcie!

It was a smidge harder to install than I expected, but we did it and it turned out great!  We weren't sure how long it would take for her to get the hang of the doggie-door, but it didn't take long at all!  I know this was a good investment!



Happy 16th Birthday!

My baby brother is 16!  I can't believe it!  I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday...geez he makes me feel OLD!  We have birthday activities planned for the weekend, but my present to Eric will come later this summer (probably in August) when I will be driving him to Louisiana to get a tattoo.  I promised him I would get a tattoo for his birthday months ago, then we discovered it is illegal to tattoo minors in Texas, even with parental consent.  So we're going to have to go to Louisiana to get it done.  He's so freaking excited about it though! I'm the coolest sister ever ;)

Where does the time go?

I realize I have been a bit lazy with the blogging...but I have been super busy with work.  In the last 2 weeks I have:

1. Started learning to work as the Charge Nurse

2. Started actually working as the Charge Nurse

3.  Took a 2 day class to prepare for the NICU Certification Exam

4.  Started working to update the phone list for Nursery Services at work

Woah!  Not a lot of time for much else...espcially when you consider that on top of that I have been working some overtime too.  Geez.

Needless to say I REALLY needed a couple of days off of work...which started yesterday.  Shawn was off of work too, so we decided to get an early start running errands and then just have the rest of the day to relax.  Mimi brought over Logan in the morning, so he was our shopping buddy for the day.  We went to Kohl's to get Shawn some new clothes for work.  Logan liked Shawn's new tie...

We also had to take Logan swimming again!  He's like a little fish already!  He dunks his face in the water and splashes!  He loves it :)

Today was another day off for me and since Mimi was off today too we headed to the outlet mall :)  Awesome!  We found some great bargains and spent money we probably didn't need too...but they were all great deals!!  I got Logan some really cute sandals...stay tuned for pictures of those :)

Now back to work for a couple of days.

Logan's First Birthday Party

Yesterday was the party.  And I mean THE party.  The FIRST party.

Mimi has put a lot of thought into this and she and I were up early getting things ready. 

We did some baking...

We decorated the house and got into party mode!

Then Mommy brought out the cake!  Logan wasn't too sure about it, but he tried.  Kind of!  I did grab George off the cake and suck the frosting off, but his one bite of cake came right back out!  He was not having it!  He did like the frosting though.

Even the dogs had a great time! They were so worn out!

I can't wait until next year!

Logan's First Birthday

Yesterday was Logan's First Birthday!  I can't believe he's already one...time flies!  Dad and Ana flew in from Chicago in the afternoon and Mimi took the day off work so she could spend it with her sweet baby. 

Mimi and I took Logan to Steak N Shake.  His first time.  He really liked my chocolate shake and he actually wore the hat for awhile!

Then we made a TON of frosting.  We got a recipe from my friend Tara's Blog.  It turned out delicious...but you probably don't want to know how unhealthy it is!  Logan is going to go into a sugar-coma on his birthday!

After Dad and Ana arrived and Mom and Shawn got home from work, we all went to Chuck E Cheese's to celebrate Logan's day!  It was so much fun!  Logan watched the show and rode some rides.  The boys (meaning Ian and Shawn) played lots of games and Eric and Nessa were on a quest to get a bunch of tickets so they could win some kind of stupid crap prize.

They succeeded.

We also discovered the coolest thing there...The photo booth.  We all got some great pictures...and some not so great ones too.  Logan was getting pretty tired by the end, as you can see from the picture with Ian!



Eveyone had fun!  Today we're having breakfast with Dad and Ana then doing some shopping for Logan!  Mim and I have to make the cupcakes tonight too and then the big party is tomorrow!  So exciting!

Swimming with the little man!

Shawn and I both had the day off work today, so we ran some errands then picked up Logan from daycare to go swimming!  I had Logan yesterday and we went swimming.  He had such a great time that Uncle Shawn wanted to be a part of it, so Logan got to hit up the pool again today!  He had a great time again...we have a future swimmer on our hands!  Micheal Phelps...watch out!
