Wedding Shower

Last night at work, my favorite NICU ladies threw me a bit of a wedding shower! It was so nice of them! We had a carry in dinner and they got me a nice card and some money for the honeymoon. My friend Stacy got Shawn a little extra present. It isn't exactly a typical wedding shower present, but...well you'll see.

I have talked to Stacy many times about Shawn's love of comic books and I've been reading some graphic novels at work lately (Shawn is making me as a trade off for him finally reading Harry Potter). Stacy is pregnant and so she obviously looks at baby stuff at the store now and when she saw these little classic superhero shoes she thought of Shawn and I. She says there is no pressure, but considering that the last 2 people I work with that got married were both already pregnant when they got married she is just covering her bases. Don't freak out though people...I am not pregnant! haha!
1 week to go until the wedding! I am so excited...not nervous at all! Everyone keeps asking me if I'm getting butterflies yet, but I'm not. I just talked to Shawn and he said it finally hit him today that we're getting married in a week! No cold feet though...we are ready!

Date Night

Yesterday Shawn got to leave work early, so I went to pick him up. I asked what he wanted for dinner and he said we already had plans. He had planned dinner and a movie for us and he wouldn't tell me where we were going or what we were going to see! I am not a big fan of surprises, but it turned out to be so nice!
There is a little Italian restaurant down the street from our place that I have been wanting to try for awhile. So Shawn suggested we go there. It is called La Bella and it was really good! My meal was HUGE so I ended up bringing half of it home (and I'm sure it will taste even more delicious as left overs!). Then we went to the movies to see The Time Traveler's Wife. I didn't think Shawn wanted to see this movie (and he really didn't) but he knew I wanted to, so we went. I really liked it. Mom has been wanting me to read the book for quite awhile but I just haven't had time. As soon as the wedding is done I will start reading again. I promise Mom! The movie was very romantic and still something that really made you think, which are two of my favorite things in a movie. It was kinda cheesy at times, but not too bad. I only cried a few times, so that's pretty good for me. And Shawn even ended up liking it. He thought the whole time traveling thing was pretty cool.
The movie made me think about something and I wondered what other people thought about it too. In the movie the main character struggles with the concept of knowing when he is going to die. It made me wonder if that is something I would want to know? I never thought I would want to know ahead of time when I was going to die, but if you don't know then you run the risk of unfinished business. Of never getting to say certain things to people and never getting to do things you always wanted to do. Shawn said that shouldn't matter because you should always make sure people know how you feel and just make sure to do the things you want to do. But I just feel like if I knew then I could mentally prepare myself and have a chance to say goodbye to those I love most. I think I would like to have that chance even if it means knowing exactly when I am going to die. I guess it doesn't really matter because I don't time travel and I am not going to know exactly when I am going to die. Anyway...it is just something I was left thinking about after the movie.
P.S. Date night was great...I have the greatest fiance ever!

Almost time!!

Only two weeks to the wedding!! It seems like only yesterday we got engaged and I thought the wedding would never get here...now it is almost here! Yay!
I think I have just about everything done now. I finished the seating chart and made the escort cards. I finished the DVD slideshow for the cocktail hour. I have the ribbons cut for everything I need ribbon for on the wedding day. I finished the menu cards (except for Shannon's because I am waiting for the Hyatt to tell me what the vegetarian meal is). My friend Sarah from work is coming over later to help me finish putting together the programs (I have gotten pooped out from tying the bows!). I really think I'm just about ready! We bought a new shirt yesterday for Shawn to wear to the rehearsal. People from work have asked me if I was packed already...2 weeks early? What clothes would I wear now if I was already packed for the wedding and honeymoon?? I still have a few details to get ready for the honeymoon, but I will be ready soon. I am so excited!

Countdown is on...

Only 3 weeks left until the wedding!! Shawn and I are getting so excited! I am pretty sure I have most everything figured out. I am still working on a few stragglers with the RSVP's but I should have it all figured out by Monday so I can finish some of the other stationary type things I'm working on.
Bottom line...we are SO EXCITED!

Comic Con Weekend

Last weekend was a busy one! Theresa came to visit (which is always awesome) and one of my best friends from college came up from Florida for a visit as well! Thursday evening we got to visit with Aaron and his girlfriend for a little while, which was fun because we had never met Angie. Plus, Brent (another friend from college) was there as well. Good times!

Friday night Theresa came into town and she and I got to have a few hours of girl time without Shawn :) Then came Saturday...the really busy day! We got up early to head to the Chicago Comic Con with Shawn. He has been looking forward to this for quite some time and we all had a good time. We got to see some stars and Shawn got a bunch of comics and comic info. Here are a few of the stars we saw...
Actor Ray Parks - played "Toad" in X-Men, "Darth Maul" in Star Wars:Episode I, and someone in the new GI Joe movie.

Edward James Olmos - long time actor
Alex Meraz - playing "Paul" in Twilight: New Moon coming out in November.
There were also a few other "stars" we got our pictures with!

There was Q&A panel with three of the stars of the new Twilight movie: New Moon. The guys who is going to play Paul, one of the wolves, was pretty cool as was the actor who will be playing Marcus, one of the Volturi. However...the kid that is going to play Alec (another Volturi) was a total tool! He is definitely a teenage boy! He sounded like a total idiot on the panel! He doesn't even seem to like the movies...and he didn't even pretend! What a way to plug your new movie! He admited he's never read the books and has no intention of doing so. Bottom line...he was an idiot! It didn't help either that the audience of the Q&A was a bunch of young girls who were asking ridiculous questions...oh well! The Marvel panel was pretty lame too, but the DC panel was actually really intersting...even for me and Theresa! The guy who was leading it was really funny!! The Comic Con wasn't very organzied this year (according to Shawn it was much better last year) but we still had fun.

Afterward, we headed out to Elgin where my friends Brent & Soriya were having a house warming party for their new house. The house is beautiful and I got to see a bunch of my friends from IU. We had a great time! Brent & Soriya had the new Wii Sports Resort game...AWESOME! Theresa and I are awesome at the canoe game (haha!). Amanda and Todd were there for a little bit with their son Max, which was great because I haven't seen either of them in YEARS! Aaron and Angie had driven up to Kenosha earlier in the day to pick up their new puppy...she's so cute! Here are some pictures of the puppy.

Sunday we drove out to South Bend for Theresa's brother's HS graduation party. He'll be going to Ball State soon so they wanted to make sure get the grad party in before he actually started college! There was good food and it was nice to get to see some BSU friends, Molly & Courtney! Always a good time talking with those ladies! Overall, we had a great weekend!

Wow

Only about one month to go!! I can't even explain how excited I am getting! All the guys are fitted for their tuxes, the girls all have their dresses and alterations are in progress, I have a dress fitting on Friday, I'm almost done putting the programs together...Bascially, I'm almost ready! I have to buy a few more things and, of course, I'm still waiting for people to respond about whether or not they're coming! I'm one of those people that sends that kind of stuff back right away, so I guess I figured everyone would do that. Not the case! I just need to learn to chill out about things I can't control. Anway, getting excited!!
