Short Videos

Just in case you weren't aware, Mom's job here in Texas is to babysit Logan while Mimi is at work.  A rough job, but someone has to do it ;)

Needless to say, she is loving it!  She is worn out (she has forgotten how tiring infants can be) but she has so much fun.  We finally convinced her to try to use Shawn's video camera to get some videos of Logan.  He is doing so much more now...making noise and "talking" to us!  We just love it!  Her first attempt with the video camera was...well, I managed to salvage a very short clips of Logan.  Enjoy!

Texas surprises...

Cool, right?  You want to come visit now, I know you do!

P.S. This spider was not in our home...it was outside of our apartment building.  It is not poisonous.  It is a garden spider that Texas residents call a 'banana spider'.  It eats other bugs, like crickets and such.  Mom wanted us to try to kill the spider with Windex.  We did not.

Our car

During our time living in Chicago, Shawn and I got along very well with only one car.  Now that we live in Texas, having only one car is not enough.  We have been looking since we arrived in Texas for Shawn to buy a car and now we've got our second car.  My car is a little peanut of a car (Scion xD) so we didn't want anything significantly larger but a bit bigger was ok.  We also were looking for something used, but not too old and with good gas mileage.  We found a '09 Toyota Corolla.  I think it will work out well for us.

Welcoming us to Texas!

We found our first special visitor in our apartment since moving to Texas.  This friendly thing was in Eric's room...
Mom was totally freaked out!  I took the little guy and put him outside...although mom wanted me to squash him.  She's so mean!  We haven't had any other interesting bugs around yet, except for one really big spider at the pool one day :)

Disney Through The Years

Anyone who reads my husband's blog (or knows him at all) knows that he likes to do top 12 lists.  He does them all the time.  Occasionally he asks me to list my top 12 to correspond with his.  Today we decided to do that again.  We were recently discussing our favorite Pixar Animation Studios films and we both chose our favorites.  We decided that we also needed to choose our favorite Disney animated films.  As we began research, we realized that the Pixar films are just too good, so we decided to choose only
Top 12 Disney Animation Studio Films.

12. Cinderella (1950)
11. The Brave Little Toaster (1987)
10. Lady & The Tramp (1955)

7. Sleeping Beauty (1959)

3. The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
2. Mulan (1998)
1. Tarzan (1999)

While I was looking up all the Disney films I started seeing a bunch of live action Disney movies from my childhood that I had forgotten about.  Many of these are probably unknown to many people...so I decided that I would choose a
Top 12 Disney Films (Prior to 2000).

In this movie, an eccentric genius creates a 'game' called "The Great All-Nighter" where he gathers 5 college students and offers them the chance to choose teams and a play the game.  He chooses these 5 individuals wisely, knowing their relationships, so that he can be assured they will play his game.  The game takes the five teams on a wild scavenger hunt all over Los Angeles...it is a wild ride!

So there you have it...my favorite Disney films.  It has been fun looking back and remembering these movies I used to watch a lot as a child.  It seems like a movie marathon may be in my near future...especially since I am sure my brother has seen very few of these!

Gettings Settled

There are several things I have learned during the move to Texas...

* I HATE MOVING

Well...I guess that is the main thing I learned during this move.  I really, really hate moving!  I did learn a few other things too, though.

* Truck stops are a completely different experience when you are driving a large diesel truck.
* Hiring movers to load/unload (as opposed to full-service movers) is still a lot of work!
* Moving is HELLA expensive.
* I love living near my sister and my nephew!  LOVE IT!  So I guess that is what is really important!

I have also started working.  Today was my first early morning (too early!) but I made it through.  I did my first day of work in the Nursery (instead of the NICU) and it was actually really fun!  I was busy, but everyone was so nice and helpful!  I know I am really going to like my new job.

Dave & Grandma Manning are visiting now.  They arrived yesterday and we have dinner at Mimi's so they could meet Logan.  They loved him, of course!
