Invitations

I just finished the wedding invitations! They are all assembled and addressed! Ready to go! I told Shawn that once they are sent out there is no turning back :) I also finished making the ring bearer pillow too. It turned out really super cute, if I do say so myself! Here is a picture of it.

We also took a weekend trip to Indy this past weekend for a wedding. An old friend of Shawn's was getting married, so we stopped by the reception for a little while. The cake was delicious! Since we were in Indy, of course we stayed with Theresa. She had picked up her bridesmaid dress so I helped her try it on. Beautiful!! The color is perfect and her dress looks amazing on her! The wedding is going to be great! While we were in town we also stopped by to see another friend of Shawn's. His friend Nate from Ball State was having a birthday so we played some beer pong. It had been quite awhile since Shawn and I played, but I think we did pretty well! Overall we had a pretty good weekend.
We went last night to see Transformers 2 in IMAX at Navy Pier. It was pretty amazing to watch on the big screen and the sound was amazing! The plot...well it has lots of wholes, but overall not too bad. The first movie was way better, but there was some pretty good action in this one. I'm looking forward to Harry Potter now!

Woah!

What a weekend!
Eric was here last week while Mom was in Fargo. We had tons of fun. We picked up Theresa from the airport after her trip to L.A. Her flight was supposed to get in at 11pm but there was delay d/t the storms here in Chicago. So her flight didn't get in until 6am the next morning instead. Shawn went to pick her up...you can just ask him how that went :) That night we had a couple of additional guest because my friend Rachel and her boyfriend, Stefan, were in town because he was trying out for American Idol. They stayed with us that night and the next. We had a great time with them. Stefan was really nice and Rachel is fun as always! Theresa left that next day and then we picked up mom from the airport. Woah...so many house guests!
Now, finally today Shawn and I were all alone again. We loved having company, but our apartment isn't big enough for so many people. Hopefully our next place will have more space. Today I was able to get a bunch of wedding stuff done. I made the ring bearer pillow and worked a bit on some other stuff. When Shawn got home from work we watched The Land Before Time. I had been craving watching that movie and we haven't been able to find it at a store on DVD. Kaley, Theresa's sister, has is on DVD so she brought it over for me to borrow! Yay! We just finished watching it and I discovered that it was produced by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. I did not know that. And the theme song that I've sung a zillion times is sung by Diana Ross. I learned two new things. Wow.
I'll be sending out the wedding invites next week...almost ready! I'm so excited!

A Great Day

Today we had a fun day planned...and it was only slightly dampened by stupid rain! Dad and Ana came by this morning and we all took the train downtown. We were on our way to Shedd Aquarium. They have a new exhibit they've been working on that just opened recently and today was a free day! When we got off the train it was POURING rain! I mean really pouring. So we started walking with our umbrellas...halfway there we were already totally soaked.

The puddles in the walkway up to the aquarium were unbelievable! Up to our ankles! As we got closer we realized that trying to go on a free day was a mistake...there was a huge line! So...we changed our plans and we went to the Field Museum instead.

The Field Museum was great though! I think Eric was a little bummed at first about not going to the Aquarium, but the enjoyed the museum too in the end. There was a sweet Biology exhibit that I loved! I got to talk about DNA and the different part of the cell. I'm sure everyone was bored, but I loved it!

There was an Underground exhibit about bugs too. We all enjoyed that. The exhibit simulated that you shrunk down so you were bug size. Then all the bugs were the same size as you...pretty neat! There was a big ant that totally reminded all of us of Auntie from Honey I Shrunk the Kids! Hilarious! Shawn enjoyed being the same size as a penny :)
There was also a Pirate exhibit. You couldn't take any pictures inside of that one, but they had pirates on a bunch of the benches in the main lobby area so we got a picture of Eric with a pirate. He looks really excited to be there :) We got shots of all of us with pirates too. The pirate exhibit was basically the life of a pirate ship called the Whydah. The name made me laugh a lot...I mean Whydah hell did the ship sink. Haha! I'm so funny! Shawn got an eyepatch in the giftshop too...oh Shawn!

After we got home we had a couple of hours to relax then it was off to dance class! We have three lessons left before the wedding and we're getting pretty good I think :) Eric had to watch the lesson, but he took some pictures for us. I told him he's going to have to learn next so he can dance with Mom at the wedding. I don't think he's on board though. We are really having fun at the classes and the instructor says we're pretty good. You'll be so impressed at the wedding!

On the way home we saw a rainbow! What a nice ending to a great day!

Theresa is also flying back from L.A. and we're picking her up at the airport. She was supposed to get in tonight at 11:30pm, but her flight was delayed 6 hours! So now we have to pick her up at 6am! GEEZ! It is good for her though because she got to spend 6 extra hours with Albert...we are excited to see her though. Her birthday was while she was gone and Eric's birthday is next week but he'll be out of town with his dad, so we're going to get them a cake and have a little birthday bash for them! Fun stuff!

Days go by

I haven't blogged lately because I've been so busy that I just haven't had time! Work has been crazy busy, so they've been calling nonstop for us to work overtime, even though we just recently got a huge email from the administrators about how overtime had to be approved by like 4 people before we were allowed to even stay over at work in the morning for like 3 minutes to finish stuff! But when a NICU that ususally has about 16-20 babies all of the sudden has 32 babies with about 8 vents and 10 micropremies...well I guess overtime is ok. I just finished a stretch of 5 nights in a row and now it is time for a few days off of work! I already told them not to call me until next week because my brother is here visiting me this week! Mom has to go to Fargo (yes, Fargo) for a United Methodist Women thing and she's flying out of Chicago so Eric is staying with me. We have lots of stuff planned, starting today!

3 months to go!

The wedding is 3 months from today!!

Only 3 more months to go before I am married to the greatest guy ever! Then we get to go on our awesome honeymoon! Then we get to come back hom and move into a new apartment and start our life together! I am pretty darn excited...can you tell?

The wedding arrangements are all coming together quite nicely...I hope I don't hit any hiccoughs because so far it has been pretty smooth sailing. I am heading back to Muncie early next week to do my first dress fitting. I was a bit afraid to do it in Chicago because it is such a big place and I couldn't really find any first hand references for a good alterations place, so my knows a lady back home who used to do a lot of wedding dress alterations and said she could probably do it. So I'm going to meet with her Wednesday...after she looks at the dress if she doesn't think she can do it then she said she knows several other people that could. So...I'm on the way to making my dress not 3 feet too long (obviously an exaggeration, but seriously it is way long on me!). I am doing quite a few DIY projects for the wedding and I've at least got all of them started now, with a few completely finished.

I started working on the slideshow of Shawn and I so I have been gathering pictures from our parents to scan into the computer. Oh wow...I have found some cute and not so cute pics of both of us! Mimi likes to call all my toddler pics the Michelin Man (she's so freakin mean!) and once Shawn started getting taller he got SO skinny that hit legs look like twigs! Oh funny stuff! I did find some super cute pictures though!

My first Christmas with my Abuela.

This is right before Mimi was born...so I'm about 15 months old. These are the pictures that Mimi likes to make fun of, although she wasn't such a skinny baby and she should shut it!

Shawn is right around 1 here. This is the summer of this first birthday. Wasn't he just adorable?!?

Shawn is still trying to figure out why is mom got him pink jammies...but oh well because he looks adorable with those blue eyes and the blonde curly hair! Love it!

Shawn's parents and Shane are coming to visit today. We're going to go meet my Dad & Ana for breakfast right after they get here. Shawn's family wants to go to the Field Museum of Natural History downtown and Shane is so excited to ride the train! I won't get to tag along for the museum because I have to work tonight, but they are going to stay the night so I'll get to see them in the morning tomorrow when I get home from work as well. They haven't seen our apartment yet, so that'll be fun! Stephanie said that we didn't need to clean up for them coming, but we did anyway. I mean, minimal cleaning effort on my part as usual (haha) but we did clean and tidy up!

Shawn is off work for the next few days, but of course I'm working :( His manager just can't quite seem to get the picture that he'd like to be able to have at least one of his days off each week on a day that I'm also off work. Oh well, maybe he'll have slightly more control over his schedule now because he got some great news the other day from work that he's being promoted to Assistant Manager of the store! We are so excited! He'll be meeting with the District Manager early next week to work out all the details. Such good news!
